Nedland Kultur was contacted by The Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation with a request to be the Norwegian partner in an EU-supported culture exchange project in the fields of music and visual art. This led to a most inspiring project with several visits and events during 2022.
Romanian musicans’ group meeting with Punkt Festival in Norway

The Romanian foundation wanted to help and assist young people to be able to embark on a career as musicians or visual artist, and organised workshops and various activities, as well as giving grants and possibilities to develop as artists. Nedland Kultur joined in this work, participating in online meetings and activities, as well as planning concerts and exhibitions. Most importantly, we organised three visits by Romanian groups to Norway, and a visit from Norway to Romania. The purpose of these visits was to exchange views and knowledge regarding cultural education, cultural institutions, cultural politics and the organisation of culture and cultural life in the two countries.

The Romanians who came to Norway were visiting several cultural institutions, schools, universities and performance centers, as well as meeting festival organisers, street art activists and many other representatives of Norwegian cultural life, including politicians and cultural bureaucrats. They visited the arts and music departments of the University of Agder, the Performanc center Kilden, the Kristiansand Art Silo projects and many more. The picture on the right shows the visual arts group being guided by the artist Erik Pirolt through his exhibition at Gallery Bi-Z in Kristiansand, Norway. The two first visits were by the young participants of Tinere Talente/Young Talents, while the third visit to Norway was by representatives of the Margareta of Romania Royal Foundations, for meetings summing up the Norway part of the project, and planning ahead for Nedland Kultur’s return visit to Bucuresti, and the activities there.

Two of the events that were organised during the project: musical concert and exhibition in Bucuresti.

In July 2022 Sigbjørn Nedland of Nedland Kultur participated in a week’s program in Bucuresti, giving some presentations and workshops with the participant groups, and taking part in concert performances and the impressive art exhibition with works by the project participants.
